About NEF
National Energy Foundation is a unique 501 (c) 3 nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the development, dissemination, and implementation of supplementary educational materials, programs, and courses. These resources for education relate primarily to energy, water, natural resources, science and math, technology, conservation, and the environment. All enrich and enhance teaching and learning. They recognize the importance and contribution of natural resources to our economy, to our national security, the environment, and our quality of life.
NEF will continue to expand its role as the premier provider of educational resources dealing with energy, natural resources, and the environment by expanding its products, training, and services, creating and implementing new and innovative educational resources, becoming extensively involved in the use of the Internet, and transforming printed educational materials to new mediums, thereby making it possible to significantly expand our impact throughout the nation.
The mission of the National Energy Foundation is to cultivate and promote an energy literate society by providing teaching and learning opportunities which promote a better understanding of energy, natural resources, and the environment. Our mission will be reflected in the resource materials we produce and the implementation of our programs nationwide.
NEF is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt, publicly supported, educational organization. As a charitable, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code, NEF is eligible to receive grants from charitable foundations; in addition, gifts and grants by individuals and corporations are both tax-exempt to us and tax deductible to tax-paying persons or firms.
